About Krista

I am a wife, mother of two energetic boys and a lover of my 4 legged beautiful girl! Hanging out with my husband, sons and dog, is my favorite way to spend the day!

Over the years practicing dietetics, I have been able to work with athletes as well as individuals struggling with medical diagnoses such as eating disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, cancer, auto-immune diseases and weight management to name a few. I have gained knowledge and expertise in a wide range of nutritional needs. Recommending nutrition therapy based on individual needs is my priority with every single person that I serve.

PROFESSIONAL BIO

I graduated from Texas State University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Foods. My Dietetic Internship was through the University of Houston and I became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in 2014. Professional experiences include interviews on SA Live, KSAT Evening News and the Rivard Report. Working in a private practice, specializing in nutrition for athletes, as well as at Eating Recovery Center - San Antonio, allows me to confidently educate athletes as well as individuals struggling with their relationship with food. In January 2022, I began working Paragon Training as their team Dietitian. Nutrition education for the team includes personalized daily recommendations, training and race nutrition for triathletes of all levels of experience.

Get to Know Krista

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved running and sports. It was not until my early 20’s that I truly realized how much joy I felt from running. I began with 5K races and worked up to the marathon distance. Once I had completed my first marathon, the Nike Women’s Marathon, triathlon racing became my next adventure. I had dreamed that the Ironman would be my first triathlon…thankfully, after my husband talked some sense into me, we decided to try out a sprint distance triathlon first. Of course we both loved triathlon and two years later we completed Ironman Texas. Training for races of varying distances has helped me understand how to change nutrition for myself as well as other athletes who I have provided nutrition education too.

I have had the pleasure of providing nutrition education to athletic groups and individuals. Athletic groups include Paragon Training, Fleet Feet, Team Diabetes, New Balance Ladies Night Out, Leukemia and Lymphoma - Team in Training, Two Run Zero, Alamo 180, Lululemon Run Club and Orange Theory. Athletes of all specialties have contacted me for advice; individuals from middle school age to high school, college and elite athletes. My passion is working with triathletes and endurance sports, but I have experience with short/long distance runners, cycling, football, soccer, tennis, cycle cross, MMA and gymnastics.  I personally strive each day to balance health along with work, social and personal life and I love to help others do the same. Balancing these things in a healthy manner is key in preventing illness during high levels of training.

My personal experience in nutrition and fitness allows me to educate and motivate others to better themselves in both areas of life. Whether you are a novice or avid athlete, I am qualified through education and experience to help you reach your goals.
